100 % Sustainable
Remote Work Tools that Make a Difference

Data centers and servers need a lot of power. ANHALT INTELLIGENCE takes advantage of electricity produced in Germany and from providers who generate their electricity from renewable and sustainable sources.

The energy powering our servers:
100% hydroelectric!

Data cables are extremely expensive to build, let alone to keep up. A single undersea data cable across the Atlantic—such as the ones built by Google—can cost 350 million U.S. dollars! These costs and other expenses are passed on to you, the customer. We need cleaner solutions.

At Anhalt Intelligence, our servers are located in colder areas to reduce artificial cooling and are powered by run-of-river hydroelectric plants. Each of these plants feeds approximately 30 million kilowatt-hours into the grid each year.

EMAS-certified in accordance with ISO 14001

Our German data centers have an efficient environmental management system in accordance with EMAS / ISO 14001. All processes and procedures are sustainable and efficient.

100% Hydropower
Our data centers are powered by energy from run-of-river power plants at various locations in Germany, including Donaueschingen, Rheinfelden, and Blumberg.

Our electricity consumption:
8 times more efficient than the others!

With PUE values ranging from 1.10 to 1.16 in our partners’ data centers (average: 1.13), our power consumption is extremely low.

We use sustainable transportation

Anhalt Intelligence uses bicycles, public transportation, and hybrid vehicles, and takes advantage of mobility services such as Nextbike and teilauto. In this way, we do our part to reduce our carbon footprint.

Our goal: to reduce CO2 emissions by 1.5 million metric tons!

According to the Borderstep Institute, working from home and video calls (instead of business trips) can save up to 70 million cars or 150 million metric tons of CO2 per year globally!

Refurbished Policy

We focus on the circular economy and purchase refurbished laptops and other hardware for our office or facilities.

Natural Air Cooling

Our data centers—particularly those in Finland—are cooled with natural outside air for up to 98% of the year. By selecting primarily cold locations, we help conserve regional water resources and reduce energy consumption.

Efficient Use of Waste Heat

The waste heat from our partners’ data centers are used to head the adjacent offices and production spaces. We are committed to the efficient use of energy.

Green Energy

Our data centers are powered by electricity from regional sources. No pipelines, no fossil fuels. Green electricity from Germany.

Sustainability Board
Implementing ESG Criteria and Upholding our Values

When selecting software, data centers, external partners or new processes, Anhalt Intelligence pays attention to quality. To deal with the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects into corporate management, the ANHALT INTELLIGENCE SUSTAINABILITY BOARD (AISB) has been put in place.

The Board decides on new partnerships based on their economic reliability (e.g. long-term management), sustainability (e.g. certified sustainable energy), ethical correctness (e.g. only social investments) and compliance (e.g. GDPR-compliant).

The Sustainability Board works according to a multi-stage process and for that, was awarded the Datacenter Strategy Award 2024.

Level 1: Sustainability Due Diligence

Identification of relevant sustainability criteria:

  • Which ESG aspects are relevant for the business (data center, banking etc.)?
  • What specific sustainability goals has the company defined?
  • Incorporating codes such as RNE’s German Sustainability Code, Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence, the EU’s Supply Chain Directive (CSDDD) or the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Selection of suitable partners:

  • list of potential partners
  • Evaluation of the sustainability performance of potential partners based on the identified criteria
  • Obtaining sustainability reports and certifications

Risk assessment:

  • Identification of potential sustainability risks that could arise from a collaboration (trash, environmental damage, etc.)
  • Mitigation of these risks

Level 2: Evaluation by the Board

  • Presentation of the due diligence results:

    • The Sustainability Board receives a detailed presentation of the results of the sustainability assessment of potential partners.

    Discussion and evaluation:

    • The Board discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the individual partners, taking into account the company’s strategic sustainability goals.
    • Questions are asked about transparency, accountability and long-term sustainability of the cooperation.

    Formulation of recommendations:

    • The Board formulates specific recommendations for the Management Board as to which partner should be selected and under what conditions the collaboration can be realized.

Level 3: Incorporation and Monitoring

Incorporating sustainability criteria in the contract:

  • The sustainability criteria identified in the due diligence process are incorporated into the contract.
  • Clear key performance indicators (KPIs) are defined that can be used to measure compliance with the sustainability agreements.

Establishment of a monitoring system:

  • Systematic monitoring of the partner’s sustainability performance is set up.
  • Regular progress reports are submitted to the Sustainability Board.

Review and adjustment:

  • The Sustainability Board regularly reviews whether the partner continues to meet the company’s sustainability goals.
  • If necessary, the contractually agreed conditions are adjusted.
