Error message 1020
durchchristian.arrighini@studente.istitutogk.it
The error message “1020: media could not reach the server” appears. This means there are network issues between your browser and the TALK+ server. This isn’t a serious problem and usually means your browser was unable to establish a video connection to the conference.
When does this error occur:
- When you try to share your webcam or screen
Possible causes:
- The TALK+ server is down
- Your internet connection has dropped
- There is a technical error on your computer
- Your webcam is malfunctioning
Possible solutions:
- Restart your device. If it is a software error on your PC or smartphone, the problem will resolve itself.
- Update your browser: We recommend using a current version of Chrome- or Firefox-based browsers for TALK+. Older versions of Google Chrome, in particular, can cause issues when internet connections provide both IPv4 and IPv6 simultaneously. This can lead to the 1020 error.
- Establish a different internet connection: Either switch to a different network (e.g., switch from mobile data on your smartphone to Wi-Fi) or turn off your router for about 1 minute and restart it.
- For Apple users: If you use an Apple device (Mac, iPad, iPhone, etc.), please update your device. Apple has a bug in all iOS and macOS versions up to 14.2 and in Safari up to version 14.0.1 that prevents video connections. If the problem persists after the update, please reset Safari to its factory settings.
